ST.IVES SCENIC TRAIL

St Ives Coastal Walk Tamarisk Bed and Breakfast is ideally located for walking holidays in the South West of Cornwall. Minutes from the front door is one of the most spectacular scenic trails in Cornwall. The accommodation is highly sought after by Ramblers and keen walkers, so remember to book early.

For those that are not so adventurous try the short walk to Clodgy Point. It is possible to walk to and from Clodgy Point via the coastal path, but for a pleasant alternative following a circular route, it may be approached via Burthallan Lane. Allow up to one and a half hours walking at a  leisurely pace. Start from Barnoon car park above Porthmeor Beach. With Barnoon car park on your right walk along Clodgy View. (Clodgy Point is the far headland). Continue past the shops at Ayr along Ventnor Terrace, Wheal Ayr Terrace, Alexander Row, and then turn right in Burthallan Lane. This is marked as a cul-de-sac but do not let this deter you. Continue along Burthallan Lane, past Tamarisk, until it peters out into a footpath and follow the path down towards the coast until it joins the coastal footpath at Clodgy Point. From Clodgy Point you will see a fine succession of headlands (see picture above), and a coastal path that stretches through superb unspoilt coastal scenery all the way to Lands End. If you are tempted to return and walk further along this beautiful stretch of the coastal path, remember always to leave a little longer than you think you are going to need; distances do not look very long on the map, but the coastal path meanders up and down and in and out along this indented coastline. To continue with the circular route, turn right at Clodgy Point and follow the coastal path back to town via Carrick Du and Porthmeor Beach.
